Dr. Wafaa A. Kandeel is a Professor in the Department of Biological Anthropology, Division of Medical Research, National Research Centre, Cairo, Egypt. She received her MSc in Pediatrics from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, and her PhD in Environmental Science from the Department of Medical Sciences; The Institute of Environmental Studies, AinShams University, Egypt. Most of her local and international publications (more than 23) relate to the skeletal biology and child growth and development in relation to child nutrition. Her current interest includes the field of obesity and its relationship with metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases among children, adolescents and adults.
